Seba FR1 Heatmold

Below is an email I got from a client who got a size 13 FR1 boot but his foot was to big for it.

He knew it was a good working boot and wanted to do what ever needed to make it work.

So he took a heat gun and heated the front of the boot and pushed it out.

You can see in the pict below how pliable it is after heating it.

He later re-heated that spot and pushed it out in a more uniform way.

But you can see the size 13 FR1 could be pushed out to a size 14 or 15 boot.

He slit the seam on the inside boot liner to give him more toe room in the bootie.

So for those with a bigger foot then size 13, the FR1 is still a possible boot to go with.

A person may put a bunch of pairs of sox on, put the bootie on and put their foot in the boot and hit the front of the boot with a heat gun till it releases.

Then put a frozen bag of peas on it to cool it.

Then take the extra pairs of sox off and see how much room was made.

Aarons Email:

Hi Rich, Used the pictured Wagner heat gun set as high as I had to be fairly aggressive heating the toe of the boot.

After 3-4 minutes of heating I began to push from the inside of the toe area forward with, at first, a ball shaped tool to just expand the area in front of the big toe.

The first photo shows this results. It helped but wasn't enough so I then got a wooden shoe tree and used that to push the whole toe box forward.

The key seemed to be holding the forward pressure on the shoe tree until the plastic cooled.

If you let off pressure while the plastic is still hot, you can see the plastic "flow" right back into it prior shape.
